While this years “Year End Party” endeavors are still fresh in the minds of all I sit and wonder what can be done to prevent this next year or the year after. By now most of us can agree that as a group we can agree on very little. The ineffectiveness the eight of us have displayed while working on a “Year End Party” rivals anything congress has done of late. If the intended purpose of the party is to have some fun we will in the future need to the change the selection process.
I’d like to see beginning next year a 3 member committee in charge of the year end party. This committee’s sole purpose is to put together the year end party plan. The committee can and should take everyones input but in the end the committee has the final say, the final plan, and the final word. Now if you’re not comfortable with others deciding the fate of the year end party feel free to get on the committee. If you feel unappreciated with the work you’ve done for the year end let someone else do it the following year. If you didn’t like last years year end party get involved and get on the committee. Would the committee have restrictions sure? 1. Plan could not exceed the collections. 2. Plan could not require overnight stay. 3. Drinks and other mind altering not included.

I completely agree with the Uhlans on the committee approach. It's something we should have done years ago. If we had, maybe my hair wouldn't be so gray. It's important to remember that the committee approach is NOT meant to exclude 5 owners from sharing their ideas, but rather to consolidate those ideas into a workable situation. I truly believe this is a better option than what we've done in the past.

It seems worth a try or some serious looking at. All ideas are welcome. No boo-hooing over the committee's final choice. Maybe we can have a couple of plans and let the league choose one of them. Those in the minority, oh well!! You should have got on the committee.

Usually when I hear nothing that means I don't care for the idea.
If you believe as I do that internal bickering is the leagues biggest problem in solving problems. Then could you not agree that before we solve the problems we will need to address how we attempt to solve the problem?
If you feel you have no representation in the going on then what better way to get representation than to be on a committee?
Now where did I leave my beer?

There will always be bickering in the SEL as long as the sun continues to rise in the morning. Some probably think there wouldn't be any problems if owners would just quit bringing up ideas for change. They're perfectly happy with the way things are. The word "ideas" in and of itself is a turnoff. What I believe is our biggest problem is an acute lack of a desire to compromise.

I believe some are turned off by the idea of committees itself.

I've got questions about these committees should five members vote to create committees:
1) Will the ability to even create committees be voted upon during the Rules Meeting? 2) Will the committee be accepted by a league vote? 3) What determines the criteria of membership? 4) How often should they meet? Will they actually meet if even just one or just pick-up a phone? 5) Should they have a couple plans to be considered or just one? 6) What are they actually empowered to even decide?
I don't like the nudie bars but also believe the choice cannot be excluded in fairness to those who like it. All this should be determined for vote by the Rules Meeting.

All this should be determined for vote by the Rules Meeting. 1 and 2 Of course it would need league approval. 3 What do you think it should be Tigers?? 4 Why would I care how the commitee does their job. Just do the job, I'd say. You? 5 The commitee well that would be up to them now - hence thats what they do. 6. All parts of the year end party. ( All of it ) For "control freaks" they are going to have problems with a commitee that doesn't report to them. I suggest you get on the commitee. For the "I just want to approve it" crowd I suggest you get over yourself. You can't say I don't care what we do and them complain about what is getting planned.

The committee should take input from the other owners to some extent.

The committee should take input from the other owners to some extent. I agree, that would be the responsible thing to do....
