Bulls,
You made some valid points. I'm glad to perceive you don't favor a reduction in dues if I may be so grateful as to perceive. Though at times we all disagree on some issues and agree on others, out of the courtesy, love, and great respect I have for you and ALL the SEL members, I honestly try to put myself in others shoes to best understand everyone's thinking. In the end we are all adults. However, I reserve my right to vote my conscience and demand it be respected and hope all others think likewise.
I will consider and do see some merit for the idea of reducing the amount for the weekly winner as stated in proposal (1) as a potential compromise to increase the party credits and bigger payout to the lower tier.
Proposal (2) to my thinking shortchanges the upper half, especially the winner. He probably won't feel like he's really won anything worthwhile if the difference between him and 8th place is 75 credits.
Proposal (3) leaves no payout to finishers 5-6. I cannot favor something where some people get nothing in return for their contributions on the year. The Wardogs complained that I got a free party. The way the payouts are set up dictated that. I'm not opposed to re-working percentages to allow a better payout for the lower tier.
Proposal (4) most assuredly lessens our options. You said yourself that we didn't have near enough to go to the Improv in Ybor. Instead we settled for Sidesplitter's which was good enough to wet many appetites for the Improv who gets the national comics. I laughed hard and can only imagine what better comics could do.
You once told me all we need is a nice dinner and I think even the War Dogs want it to be more than just that. We get a decent dinner to some extent during the supplemental meetings. Our one night a year gathering needs to be much more memorable. In all honestly, 680 credits won't cut it at all. Think about it.

In voting my conscience, the Tigers support a 5 credit weekly raise, or 680 yearly credit league increase. This will cover all the SEL activities for the next 5-10 years and allow for a truly more wonderful night together, a bigger payout for the lower tier, a higher split of the year end credit remains when the night is done, a better draft board, and so many other things I can't think of. Options can be endless.
I encourage all to look to the future and not stay in the stagnation of the past.

I agree with the Tigers that if we do this now, we will not have to address this situation for years to come. I'm ready to start thinking about football and not politics.

War Dogs,
I'm gonna get drastic here. Please put your profound reservations aside.
I respectfully ask that you, the Bulls, and the Ratz join us and declare a unanimous vote for a 5 credit weekly increase that will cover us for the next 5-10 years as I said previously. This will send a difinitive message and positively raise the spirits of this wonderful league. We all have bigger fish to fry outside of this petty dues fillet.
Keep in mind that I am with you on many other issues.

Some members of the league want to force a extravagant party on the members who don't want it. 500 dollars for a limo is CRAZY. Then to top it all off they want to create some all powerfull committee so that the minority has no say and no opportunity to bitch about it. I AM WILLING TO FIGHT THIS TO THE BITTER END. ITS NOT FAIR, ITS NOT RIGHT NO MATER HOW THEY WANT TO SUGAR COAT IT. WHY SHOULD MEMBERS WHO DO NOT WANT IT BE FORCED TO PAY FOR THINGS THEY DON'T WANT. I SAY GIVE US AN OPTION TO NOT BE PART OF THIS...HAVE A SMALL THING FOR ALL THEN IF THE REST WANT TO DO SOMETHING ELSE THEY CAN DO IT WITH THEIR OWN MONEY NOT THE LEAGUES OR MY MONEY. WHY SHOULD WE BE FORCED TO PAY FOR SOMETHING WE DO NOT WANT TO DO. LET ME ASK YOU THIS WHAT IF THE WAR DOGS AND BULLS WERE ON THIS COMMITTEE COULD YOU LIVE WITH THE RESULT... MY FEELING IS NOT ONLY IS THE ANSWER NO BUT THAT THE POWERS THAT BE WILL CONTROL THIS ALL POWERFULL COMMITTEE AND THEY WONT LET THAT HAPPEN. SO WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE RESULT OF OTHER MEMBERS FORCING THIS DOWN OUR THROAT. I SAY NO MORE PARTY FUND. IF SOME MEMBERS WANT A BIG PARTY LET THEM PAY FOR IT ON THEIR OWN. I AM PREPARED TO FIGHT THAT AT THE RULES MEETING AND BEYOND.

My thoughts are that we probably will do something similar to last year, party wise. I think most would like a slight upgrade in the comedy club, and the fact that I'm not driving gives us a chance to be driven around by a professional. Remember, it's not $500 extra that we need. The van was costing $250. We had barely enough funds to cover this years party, and we didn't do that much. We stayed for only half of the races at the track, and then went to the discount comedy club. Doing anything more than that will obviously require more funds. In no way would I call what I have in mind "extravagant". I'm trying to understand some you are having such a difficult time with the committee approach. Everyone is going to have a say in every matter that comes up. The 'committee" as I understand it, is just to create an atmosphere where there can be dialogue without all of the arguing. Let's keep discussing this and hopefully we can come to an understanding.

Just a reminder this thread should be about dues.
Lets try and keep the discussions on track by taking the committee to its appropriate thread.
It just makes things easier to keep straight.

after much thought the war dogs are looking to make nice...in other words I am willing to compromise. After thinking long and hard I have some really good ideas for compromising on
A: THE EXTRAVAGANT PARTY B: THE ALL POWERFULL COMMITTEE

Ratz,
I know construction is bad. Patty and Colleen's construction clean up business is quite slow because of it. Therefore, our money is also tight right now. Manson is slow. All the same, I'm not against it still. Is there ever going to be a year when ALL of us are doing good enough to raise the dues?

our expenses are going up $60 for the new internet league....why is there talk of raising the dues $680....if the league wants a bigger party than the amount we have set aside then it should be paid for equally as we did when we rented a limo before. IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AT THE EXPENSE OF THOSE WHO FINISH IN THE LOWER HALF OF THE LEAGUE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT IS WHAT IS BEING PROPOSED. NO MORE MONEY SHOULD BE ADDED TO THE PARTY FOR THAT WOULD BE COMPLETLY UNFAIR. IF MEMBERS WANT A BIGGER PARTY THE COST SHOULD BE PAID FOR BY ALL THE MEMBERS NOT JUST THE LUCKY ONES THAT HAPPEN TO BE ON TOP THAT YEAR.
