Yes, you read correctly - the 2008 (next year's NFL draft)
This is the weekend we had normally reserved for the SEL8 Rules Meeting. Can we once again reserve this weekend for the Rules Meeting? Is that weekend going to be conflict for anyone? Or any activities like birthday parties? The 2008 NFL draft is April 26 and April 27..

The Tigers have no problem with the April 26-27 weekend. I will not be having a party this year.

The 2009 Rules Meeting might be an issue considering I will be 50 that year.

It just now dawned on me that SEL love will be an issue for me next season. Loneliness at the top will surely be experienced. A number of our distinguished SEL owners, especially the Uhlans, will NOT trade with me......................OH WELL!!!! Such is the price.

Tigers, 'Loneliness at the top" is a small price to pay for what you are experiencing. Take it as a compliment and pray to the football gods that you'll be able to experience it again.

While this years “Year End Party” endeavors are still fresh in the minds of all I sit and wonder what can be done to prevent this next year or the year after. By now most of us can agree that as a group we can agree on very little. The ineffectiveness the eight of us have displayed while working on a “Year End Party” rivals anything congress has done of late. If the intended purpose of the party is to have some fun we will in the future need to the change the selection process.
I’d like to see beginning next year a 3 member committee in charge of the year end party. This committee’s sole purpose is to put together the year end party plan. The committee can and should take everyones input but in the end the committee has the final say, the final plan, and the final word. Now if you’re not comfortable with others deciding the fate of the year end party feel free to get on the committee. If you feel unappreciated with the work you’ve done for the year end let someone else do it the following year. If you didn’t like last years year end party get involved and get on the committee. Would the committee have restrictions sure? 1. Plan could not exceed the collections. 2. Plan could not require overnight stay. 3. Drinks and other mind altering not included.

If we all agree on the above that three members plan the party, all agree to accept their choices regardless, we will still have some bitc...g. I bet some will just pull out of the festivities at a certain point anyway. Some won't want any part the effort, and will still complain at the choices in the end.
The committee should come up with three different agendas from which to choose and not one plan only.

I will even go as far to say that some will complain about the people who's on the committee but won't want an part of it themselves. After six years, I've seen this particular league trait manifested itself many times over. There's a massive tendency for letting others do the work and then bitterly complaining about the work at the end.
There's distinct air of futility.

You cannot please everyone. There's way too much emphasis on pacifying one or two people. What the majority of the group decides to be the party plan is it. At this point, the minority can either live with it or say F_ _ _ it and quit. I enjoy the conraderie more than anything else. I'm not in this for the money only. That's further down on my list. Where's the money on your list, everyone?
